Rev. Jeff Wright
Midway Baptist Church

Cookeville, TN 38501

Greetings, Jeff!

I’m a lifelong Southern Baptist who’s been involved in vocational ministry on church staff in two Southern Baptist churches, and more recently I worked as an editor for 17 years at Lifeway. I left Lifeway in 2012 when I was laid off; a lot of people were when Lifeway downsized over a period of several years.

I’m a member of FBC Hendersonville. I’m very concerned about what’s currently occurring in the SBC and have written about it on my blog. Here is a recent post. I’ve also written about the abolitionist movement — more specifically, why it’s an insult to women to say they shouldn’t be held accountable for taking innocent lives through abortion.

You’ll remember that recently you were on Jon Harris’s podcast and offered this invitation to his listeners to contact you.

As I mentioned, I am concerned about what is occurring in the SBC; but not surprisingly, I’m also burdened for the larger evangelical community as well. Because the SBC is where I am, though, it’s where I’m willing to focus my attention.

I believe that pastors who are aware of the dangers of cultural trends can and should do more to train their people regarding the social justice movement and cultural Marxism. While many pastors are afraid of “getting too political” the pastors in your networks (both formal and informal) would, I believe, consider helping their people understand the biblical tenets that refute the social justice movement and cultural marxism. All of this can be addressed in a major way through Bible study curriculum. I can’t think of anything more appropriate than for churches to do this.

As a writer and a Bible study designer, I have prepared numerous articles and several different Bible study series that address these and related issues. Here is a Bible study series I created for pastors and other church leaders could use in their churches to train and equip their people about cultural Marxism:

Nine Biblical Principles that Expose the Social Justice Movement and Marxism as Contrary to Authentic Christianity: A Bible Study

I have prepared a great deal more material, as well, that I believe would be very useful and helpful to pastors and churches seeking to effectively wage war on the front lines of spiritual warfare today. Martin Luther is credited with saying,

If I profess with loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except that little point which the world and the Devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all the battlefield besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.

I live in nearby Lebanon, and I would love to make an appointment to talk with you about these matters. I’d be glad to drive to Cookeville one day, meet you for lunch or at another time convenient for both of us, and talk with you about my concerns and the resources I’ve developed.

Could we work that out? Please email me at dbrtruth@gmail.com, or text me or call me at (615) 830-4464.

I look forward to hearing from you.
